The 8th Regional Hospital Controlled Substances Seminar is a knowledge based seminar for pharmacists, nurses, physicians and administrators that work in a hospital setting.  The seminar will cover many topics related to regulatory best practices for controlled substances in a hospital setting.  The session will include presentations from hospital speakers, law firms and regulatory and operational experts.

As a result of attending this seminar attendees should be better prepared to:

  • Understand the DEA regulations regarding handling of controlled substances
  • Understand the various electronic dispensing unit requirements and utilization
  • Prevent diversion of controlled substances and establish a diversion detection program
  • Develop programs for tracking the receipt, administration and dispensing of controlled substances
  • Understand procedures for handling wasting and disposal
  • Employment issues associated with terminating employment of drug abusers and/or diverters
  • Develop internal employee training programs
  • Prepare standard operating procedures for handling controlled substances
