The 8th Regional Hospital Controlled Substances Seminar is a knowledge based seminar for pharmacists, nurses, physicians and administrators that work in a hospital setting. The seminar will cover many topics related to regulatory best practices for controlled substances in a hospital setting. The session will include presentations from hospital speakers, law firms and regulatory and operational experts.
As a result of attending this seminar attendees should be better prepared to:
Understand the DEA regulations regarding handling of controlled substances
Understand the various electronic dispensing unit requirements and utilization
Prevent diversion of controlled substances and establish a diversion detection program
Develop programs for tracking the receipt, administration and dispensing of controlled substances
Understand procedures for handling wasting and disposal
Employment issues associated with terminating employment of drug abusers and/or diverters
Develop internal employee training programs
Prepare standard operating procedures for handling controlled substances
