It is our sincere honor and pleasure to welcome you to the 2019 State of Black America Summit featuring the 16th Annual National Urban League Legislative Policy Conference.
Our Legislative Policy Conference (LPC) is an occasion for our Urban League Affiliate Presidents, Board Members, Young Professionals and Guild members to receive policy updates and meet with their Congressional Members and their staffs. LPC 2019 will feature 3 specially designed Tracks designed to meet the needs of all members of the Movement. The CEO Track will allow our affiliate Presidents/CEOs to share local experiences and best practices and to prepare for the upcoming 2019 Congressional session. Our Policy and Advocacy Track will allow Young Professionals, Guild Members and community organization partners to hear from National Urban League staff, experts and leaders from across the nation on the issues of policy and advocacy. Finally, our Small Business Track will convene the directors of the Entrepreneurship Centers and Workforce Development Centers of the NUL affiliate Movement and focus on the issues and challenges facing African American businesses and workforce.

Our 2019 State of Black America Summit kicks off on the morning of May 6th with the release of the 2019 State of Black America® (SOBA) report during an event at the National Press Club. It will feature the National Equality Index, the Equality Index Rankings, as well as articles and essays from a wide range of prominent authors and contributors.
Tuesday, May 7th, 2019
On Tuesday May 7th the day will begin with our Opening Plenary Session. Thereafter, there will be powerful and informative sessions in the 3 respective tracks. Our annual Empowerment Luncheon will feature governmental and thought leaders and we will present awards to key Congressional leaders. Following lunch, there will be additional impactful and engaging panel discussions and trainings. The evening will conclude with the Saluting the Congressional Black Caucus & Urban League Movement Champion Awards Reception where we will recognize and lift up the largest and most diverse in history Congressional Black Caucus, as well as leaders within the Urban League Movement.
Wednesday, May 8th, 2019Our final day will start with our Annual Congressional Leadership Breakfast. The breakfast will feature Congressional leaders from both chambers and both political parties. After breakfast, Urban League CEOs and delegates will attend meetings with their U.S. Senators and Representatives. These meetings serve as a unique opportunity to directly share both the Urban League’s national and local legislative priorities with federal lawmakers.
